Meet other Grandparents like you
Having the full-time care of your grandchildren can be very rewarding but also challenging. Grandparents sometimes feel physically and emotionally drained by their caring role, find it hard to cope, and become socially isolated. Caring for children requires a lot of support, and the Time for Grandparents support groups are here to provide exactly that.
Our groups provide the social connection, support services, resources and help you need. We’ll help you find other Grandparents with the same lived experience and reduce feelings of social isolation that come with being a Grandparent raising grandchildren.
What are our support groups?
Time for Grandparents offers a free online Queensland-wide peer support group, and face-to-face peer support groups in South-East Queensland. Our Grandparents Support Groups are a chance for eligible Grandparents to build new friendships and access much needed information, support and social interaction. They are a way to forge new connections and network with people in similar family situations.
Why join our support groups?
Time for Grandparents is here to support those who care for others. So if you provide informal care for your grandchildren, come and join our support groups to:
- Access advice, information and resources to help you.
- Reduce your stress levels.
- Experience respite and a break, physically and emotionally.
- Create positive feelings.
- Enjoy yourself amidst the stress of daily life.

- Empathise with others in similar family situations.

Time for Grandparents Online Video Peer Support Group
Our online peer support group is available fortnightly throughout Queensland and brings together eligible Grandparents who care full-time for their grandchildren, to share lived experience and practical advice about your caring role, as well as receiving information, encouragement, peer support and connection. It is an opportunity for people in regional and remote communities, as well as those who cannot attend a face-to-face group, to gain some valuable support.
Face to Face Support Groups
Our face-to-face peer support groups are available in South-East Queensland for eligible Grandparent carers who are full-time primary carers for their grandchildren, to share encouragement, peer support and connection.
